2014 is a very special year as it is the 370th anniversary of the Battle. We would like to cordially invite members of the public to commemorate with us those who perished with a wreath-laying and memorial service.
Due to the significance this year, there will be a higher profile, drumhead memorial service presided over by the Rector of Cheriton. It is a fantastic day out with a great pub, a short and a moving service on the original battlefield. Numbers are growing year by year and visitors are most welcome.
As part of the commemoration, members of the reenactment societies taking part in our History through the Ages event later in the year will be taking part in a march from Basing House, Hampshire, finishing at the Memorial site on the 30th of March.
The planned route will be marched over two days, starting at Basing on the 29th March and finishing at the Memorial to coincide with the start of the Memorial service. The distance is almost exactly Marathon length, and we will be joined by members of the British Legion for the final approach to the Memorial Site.
If you would like to support this march or for more information please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
